who have a strong sense of responsibility towards their culture. Through this
group, they hope to awake the indigenous consciousness and pride fand hang
together to pass on the traditional culture.
The artistic director of the Taiwan
Aboriginal Art Group, Sophia Lin, had been the champion of the Five Lights
Award Song Contest by Taiwan Television Enterprise, Ltd. Also, she is well
known for her work on Amis cultural education, Amis language and Amis
traditional song and dance included. After work, she always spent her spare
time to assemble an indigenous dance company and then teach them to sing the
traditional songs and to dance in indigenous style. As a result of the director
and dancers’ concerted effort, they have won much praise from the critics and
audiences. In addition, they had been invited to perform for some activities
for public welfare and the international cultural festifals in several
countries such as Japan, Korea, Singapore, Canada, Israel and the USA. Until
now, they continue to develop the knowledge of traditional song and dance from
the Amis elders and then bring it to the world in order to keep the original
indigenous culture alive.
